Frances Forever’s Lockjaw Tour hits NYC

If there’s one thing I can say about Frances Forever, it’s that they are absolutely iconic. If you recognize their name, but aren’t sure why, I’ll ask you one question and one question only. Here goes. Were you on TikTok in 2020? Ahhhhhh, now you got it. Frances is the genius behind bedroom-pop hit “Space Girl” which has amassed over 140 million Spotify streams due to its viral streak on the video-sharing app.

Their masterful lyricism combined with soft, fun beats create the perfect environment to sway and dance the night away. Baby’s All Right became home to the Lockjaw tour for one night only on July 16th, and we have the scoop about the epic performance!

For this tour, Frances picked show themes for each date and city based on their song titles. NYC was “Space Girl” central, with fans wearing antennas, metallic shimmer, and space-themed tees. The band came out in astronaut suits, and Frances matched their fans energy with antennas and a space-themed top.

Throughout the performance, Frances emphasized that Baby’s All Right was a safe space for the night. As a gay and nonbinary artist, Frances mentioned how many of their songs were about LGBTQ+ relationships and the importance of feeling represented through music. Personal favs from their new album Lockjaw include “Mr. Man”, “Baby Bangs”, “Monica Gives Me Lockjaw”, and “Nobody’s Daughter”. During their love songs, they asked the crowd to hold onto their partners and freely show their love. There was even a section of the set where Frances asked the room to sit, relax, and enjoy the acoustic set. The inclusivity found in both Frances Forever’s music and in their live shows made this concert one of my personal favorites. There was such a happy and free vibe to the entire night, and it reminded me that this is what live music is truly about – human connection.
